Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. and Thump Records are pleased to announce the self-titled debut release of Devoted Spirits this March 22, 2005. The multi-talented Devoted Spirits is an all-star band featuring three key alumni of Earth Wind & Fire, a graduate of Rufus and a powerhouse drummer from Steely Dan and The Yellowjackets? From EW&F we have Sheldon Reynolds (guitar, vocals), Larry Dunn (keyboards, vocals) and Morris Pleasure (keyboards, trumpet). Dunn and Pleasure both have served as music director for EW&F. Add bassist Bobby Watson from Rufus and drummer Ricky Lawson from Steely Dan and The Yellowjackets and you get some serious funk.

The debut release available in stores nationwide will be followed up with CD release party and concert at Seattle's Triple Door (216 Union Street) on Saturday, February 12, 2005. This performance celebrates the release of their CD tribute to Earth Wind & Fire. This stellar project also got some star-studded help from saxophonists Gerald Albright and Ronnie Laws, Herbie Hancock drummer Teri Lyne Carrington and Sounds Of Blackness. It is tempting to tag tonight as a CD release event rather than a party, given the major funk/R&B credentials of the members of Devoted Spirits. An event, yes, but a party it will surely be, filled with joy, positive energy and irresistible rhythm. Tickets for this event are $20 and available at Triple Door. Doors will open at 6:30pm with the event really kicking up the heat at 8:00pm when the group takes to the stage.

ABOUT THE ALBUM:

There are people who grace our lives with a moment or more of nearly unexplainable dedication. That dedication may be to us or to their chosen path of work. We often witness these extraordinary people touch the lives of many with amazing expressions of artistry, sports, or leadership skills. In this project we celebrate a union of devoted spirits. At a wonderful moment in time these spirits united to create more than the sound we have come to know so well. We believe that from the direction of the eternal spirit this union was bought forth to show example of what happens when true devotion is put to an idea. Born from that same light are the people who have created this tribute.

Devoted Spirits are three individuals who's contribution to Earth, Wind and Fire range from greatly influencing the creation of its sound to helping continue its level of excellence. With the help of our friends we invite you to join us as we celebrate a legacy our lives graced and were graced by. This tribute is to the original sound of love that was earth, wind and fire. Truly Devoted Spirits has created this loving project.
