Jimi Hendrix's Are You Experienced has been named the greatest guitar
album of all time. The 1967 release, which spawned classics such as "Foxey
Lady" and "Fire" was chosen by music experts from Mojo magazine.
Are You Experienced showcased his incredible talent as well as his
range of innovative sounds using an array of electronic boxes. Mojo writer
Ritchie Unterberger said: "It's impossible to cram all the innovative ways
of playing an electric guitar that Hendrix pioneered on his first album
into one paragraph. Foremost among them were his use of controlled feedback
coaxing both oceanic waves and subtle flutters; his mastery of a huge range
of high volume distorted tones and his piercing, clear lightning-quick blues
runs."

In marking the 33rd Anniversary of Jimi Hendrix's tragic passing, Rolling Stone
magazine crowned Hendrix "The Greatest Guitarist Of All Time" in their special
nod to music's Top 100 Guitarists Of All Time which features Hendrix on the cover.
In a special full page tribute to Hendrix, fellow rock legend Pete Townshend of
The Who sums up Hendrix's music saying "I feel sad for people who have to judge
Jimi Hendrix on the basis of recordings and film alone, because in the flesh,
he was so extraordinary. He had a kind of alchemist's ability; when he was on the
stage, he changed. He physically changed. He became so incredible graceful
and beautiful ... He made the electric guitar beautiful and made it OK to make
it beautiful."
